My first impression of OmniMount OMH TV Mount is that the contents can be intimidating. The kit arrives in a very compact box, complete with some of the most easily understood directions of any self-assembly project in memory.

To cut to the chase, the contents include a portioned off pack with a set of bolts and washers in no less than six compartments. However, this is to accommodate your very own television. I found I had to use less than ten percent of the items provided much to my relief. There are other screws and washers as well as the wall mount, but the operation is mainly simple.

Still, you will need either a Phillip's or conventional screwdriver, a socket wrench (I managed with a pair of pliers, but this is not ideal!) You will also need a pencil, a drill, and a drill bit: either a 1/8 or 3/8th's drill bit (depending on whether or not you mount your TV on the wall or use the "wood stud installation"). You will also need a hammer and balance device.

They say on the product description it takes "ten minutes" to install, but I beg to differ. If you are a "Tool Guy..." or "...Gal," ten minutes seems reasonable, but in all due fairness, I had to spend a lot of time drilling, making pilot holes, etc. into the wall, so your time may vary greatly.

Having my 42'' widescreen television--my first and less than a year old--on the wall is a great perk for me. I have neck issues, and I have far less strain on my neck. It is convenient and comfortable to watch streaming movies, DVD's, and television from my bed.

One minor issue: You may have different results, but when you turn on your Blu-Ray or other DVD player, you may not get immediate access to your provider. You may have to try a website to help you through that. I found that logging out of my provider and logging back in did the trick.

All in all, this is a wonderful development: One that this barely weekend tool warrior can handle. Most likely you will, too.
