Atdec Adapter Plate 200mm x 100mm VESA Review

I needed a 200mm x 100mm adapter for the HP2710M monitors I purchased ("Famous Maker"... you know). These are a stamped steel heavy-duty one-piece solution for this "goofy" non-square mount. There are several things you should consider about this mount BEFORE you buy one:

1. This adapter does NOT fit within the confines of the recessed area on the rear of the monitor that contains the mounting holes. The rounded edges overlap the recess. This in itself is not a real problem as surface area of contact is probably not much of an issue on a 25lb monitor.

2. If you try to remove some material from the corners of this adapter in order to make it fit the recess, you probably won't have much "meat" left over for the screws to grab. I think it is better to leave the bracket as-is and go to the hardware store and buy or make some tubular spacers (that fit over the screws)to prevent the bracket corners from slowly deforming as the bracket is pulled into the recess by the mounting bolts. HP didn't think this one through and as far as I can determine never offered or provided a custom adapter that would have mitigated this issue.

3. The screws that come with the monitor are long enough but only barely (for use with this adapter). Better to use the long set of screws that come packaged with this adapter.

4. Once the adapter is securely bolted on, the resulting mounting surface has holes to support a 75mm x 75mm mount. It is NOT a 100mm x 100mm mounting surface! My mounting brackets had both 75mm and 100mm square patterns so I had no problem. You should make sure that the 75mm square pattern is supported by the mount you have OR the mount you intend to buy. Many do but NOT all of them. 100mm square seems to be the most common pattern for smaller monitors.

This is a "band-aid" fix for a problem that should not have been "engineered" into this monitor. This adapter provides the best way I have found to overcome this limitation as long as you are careful in its implementation.
