This purchase was pretty much a gamble, since I couldn't find ANY external information on this product even after a very thorough search of the internet. No reviews, no manufacturers support page, no nothing. I wanted a monitor wall mount that articulated and could extend a minimum of 18" from the wall, and eventually decided to upgrade to a height adjustable model as well, even though it was much more expensive. Adding height adjust-ability to the requirements made the price double or triple, so I wanted something that would stand the test of time too. There was tons of info on the Egrotron LX and MX mounts, and I was very close to buying one of them until I came across this product. Even in the absence of reviews, I went along and bought it, since worst case I could return it. Turned out to be a great purchase (SO FAR).The issue I had with the least expensive Ergotron mounts (LX and MX) was they would only tilt 5 degrees downward. Why the heck they would limit that function I don't know, but it was the reason I didn't buy their LX mount. Anyway, this Dyconn can tilt 40 degrees either direction; very useful now and more importantly as the years go on since I saw the $100+ (with shipping) cost of this as an investment for the long run. The cable management feature of the Dyconn is smart, effective, and more aesthetically pleasing than the Ergotron's, although it's unclear why they included 5 very puny clear zip ties with the hardware. The Ergotron LX can extend 3 inches further than this one, but once you're 22.5" from the wall I'm not sure that would make a big difference. Otherwise they two seemed basically the same, and with shipping the price on the two was exactly the same too.
It was packaged in a medium sized cardboard box, albeit decently designed for the parts necessary. It was entirely assembled, all I needed to do was find a suitable mounting location and drop the arm onto the wall mount. The system looks very good all in all, and seems at home on any office desk or home workstation. The one thing I was worried about was the included bubble level at the bottom of the wall mount. In reality, it's incorporated well and chances are you'll never see it anyway - definitely doesn't stick out like a sore thumb like I worried it could. With any articulating wall mount you need to seriously consider mounting location and stability, and this is a HEAVY piece of equipment. It can handle up to 20 pounds of weight attached to it, and it's probably at least 8 or 9 pounds itself, so don't think you can just mount this or any other on drywall with cheap anchor and not worry about it. After selecting a suitable location, installation was fairly easy - drop the arm onto the mount and tighten a couple screws + the retaining cap. Once that's done, you'll need to adjust the various movements to the size and weight of your monitor. The instructions were surprisingly thorough and complete, while definitely being done by an english-second-language writer (still easy enough to read). They included diagrams and other useful info to help you mount this just once and not put a bunch of holes in your wall.
I've only had this Dyconn wall mount up for 48 hours now, but so far so good and it's definitely a sturdy product that appears it will last. It works as expected and looks great, I wanted to review this so someone in my situation didn't have to spend the hours scouring the internet for info if they were looking for something like me, so hopefully it's helped you make your decision.
