Premier Mounts LPSA3747 Articulating Wall Mount for 37" to 47" Displays (Black) Review

As an avid do it yourselfer and electronics hobbyist I can honestly say that this mount has surpassed my expectations on both counts. First of all, it was a breeze to install. The directions were clear and concise. The included install kit was far more complete than I could have imagined. It's obvious Premier was prepared for any combination that might present itself. Install took about an hour including hunting down my level, stud finder and drill.

Once installed, I found the mount to be adjustable in every direction as advertised. You can increase or decrease the tension for movement in any direction to match the weight of your TV. The larger your set, the more tension you'll require to avoid unwanted movement. Mine was fine out of the box but I'm only holding a 40" LED set which weighs about 35 lbs. For heavier sets you might want to explore different tension settings to get a nice combination of stability and fluid movement. An added bonus is the cable hiding capabilities of the mount. You just run your cables through the hollow arms and you'll have a much cleaner look. The Premier LPSA3747 is easily sturdy enough to hold a much heavier set than I'm using and the movement is smooth as silk.

If you're looking for an great articulating mount then look no further. You won't find a better mount without paying much more.

Arrived in good condition. Fairly simple to put together except had to soft mallet down the top to fit the skinny back piece into its grooves while applying pressure on it by a second person. Salamander Synergy 236 A/V Cabinet w/ Two Doors & Media Drawer (Walnut/Black) Review

I really do love the beauty and the well thought out design behind the Synergy system. It is a modular design so you can always come back and expand on the system in the future.

It took me many hours to put it together (and I will explain more below on this).

The pieces are all very sturdy (thick wood, strong and heavy vertical supports) so you know it can hold a good amount of weight. Even the secondary pieces (such as the rear boards) are nicely made. There is nothing "cheap" looking about this system at all.

The cherry and black option also looks very nice (it looks a little darker than what I noticed on the monitor). I would have liked it if somehow they could make it so the heads of the top screws are not exposed.

OK so what am I not happy about? First off...it was missing two pieces (a washer and a silver screw knob on the rear). I ended up using things from my toolbox to supplement.

Almost every piece has minor dings or scratches...I could live with almost all of them. When I finally put all of the pieces together and it was time to put the top piece of wood on...I was shocked to see that there were a couple of long gashes (about 6 inches long...a second smaller one about 2 inches long) on the top piece. They look like someone dug a tool into the wood by mistake.

I discovered this after many hours so it took me even more time to swap the bottom piece for the top piece. I am very very unhappy that the maker cannot ship this in a way that the scratches do not occur.

The box that it came in looked very well packaged so I don't think shipping is the problem. I think it lies in the maker's internal quality control before the pieces get to the box.

I think one thing they can do to improve on this is use more of the protective plastic wrap. They put protective plastic wrapping on all the black pieces of wood which you peel off...why can't they do this on all the other major pieces as well?

If you want to order this system (why wouldn't you, it's a great design that looks very nice and simple), I recommend taking all the pieces out and inspecting them. If it has dings like mine did, strategically figure out which location the piece with the hideous scratch should go to first before spending a ton of time.

Because believe me, after hours of working on it and the weight of this package will make you not want to return it.

Aluminum Truss Portable TV Stand for up to 50 inch Monitors - Black Review

I wanted a rugged but portable stand to hold a 40-inch LED TV for tradeshows. This was the least expensive and lightweight (I thought) unit I could find on the wonderful world wide interwebs. It arrived in two pretty beat-up cardboard boxes. The smaller box contained the mounting bracket bars and a bag containing 50+ small hardware pieces but the cheapy plastic bag was broken so the pieces were all over the place. Although the setup of the stand is easy and intuitive, there are no instructions regarding the mounting bracket or the for all the small pieces of hardware.

Their website claims a weight of 34 lbs, but with the bracket the weight is more like 50+ lbs. Kind of deceiving. The petite woman shown with the carrying case over her shoulder on their website must be really strong! or the carrying case was empty!

We'll see how it holds up after a few trade shows...

Probably should upgrade to 4 stars. Used it at a trade show recently. Was relatively easy to setup, still seems kind of heavy, but I guess its a trade-off for its ruggedness. Would recommend as long as you are prepared for the weight and lack of instructions for the mounting brackets.

Salamander Designs C/SO323/AC Chameleon Sonoma TV Cabinet (American Cherry) Review

After struggling for years with poor quality shelving for stereo equipment, we finally ponied up for the Salamander Designs Chammeleon Sonoma cabinet model C/S0323/AC.

Packaging and delivery - We live in Seattle, and in our locale, the cabinet was delivered by a specialized shipping company, Pilot Freight. They called ahead and set up an appointment. I asked if they could deliver it to the back of the house, through the garage to avoid stairs. That was no problem. They called ahead, to tell me they were 45 minutes out and then called again to tell me they were here. I expected I'd have to show them how to get into the back alley, but when I went out, they were already unloading in the back. The cabinet arrived in a box that is designed to be used in conjunction with a pallet, and when moved off the pallet, it easily came apart. The top, shelves and parts were packed separately. The guys took the cabinet out of the box and placed it in the room where I wanted it, which, in my case, was just inside the garage door. They were so nice, I went to get them a tip, and by the time I got back, they had removed all the cardboard! Nice. Everything arrived in perfect condition and the delivery guys were very careful to make sure they didn't bump anything.

Installation - If I have any complaint, it is with the leveling feet for this product. It is a bolt inset in the middle of the bottom of the foot wit a plastic protector over the end of the bolt. It is impossible to turn without needle nose pliers, and in my opinion, not something I will use. Putting so much weight in a small area, particularly if one has hardwood, is not a good idea. We cut some wood blocks, put felt on the bottom and used that for leveling. The rest went together very fast. We didn't use the infinitely adjustable pegs because there were plenty of standard holes that worked for us. The back and top went on very easily.

Operation of equipment - In the case of the Sonoma line, in between the slats is black mesh screen, so the remotes work without buying a repeater. There is plenty of venting to keep components from overheating; there are vents set into the bottom, the front is screened and the back also allows ventilation. The back pieces go on easily and have plenty of space for wiring. There are also optional interior lights, which we didn't buy, but will think about it.

Overall impressions - This is a finely built piece of furniture and looks beautiful with the rest of our mission style furniture. It is also a well thought out and well executed component cabinet. We highly recommend it.

eForCity Tilt Swing Arm TV Wall Mount For 10 13 15 19 20 24 inch Review

Item arrived on time. I was surprised at the small size, but that's a good thing. The wall mount was very easy to install. I did however have to re-adjust the swing after a few days due to the TV seeming to tilt forward a little. This concerned me initially because I am only using a 13" flat panel TV,so not a heavy TV at all. But, so far no more adjustments have been needed. (It is possible that I did not tighten the swing arm enough during the initial install.) I will give an update if the tilting becomes a problem. Overall this is a good cheap way to mount your TV. The mount is well constructed and solid. However, I will warn you that I'm not confident that it will hold up to a 24" screen as the discription indicates.

This is a no frills, inexpensive LED monitor. The image is crisp, clean and pleasant to view. I bought this to use as a second monitor beside an NEC Display Solutions P221W-BK 22-Inch 8ms(GTG) 300 cd/m2 1000:1 Widescreen LCD Monitor (Black) and it meets my basic needs as a "Display 2" for Lightroom and other applications.
